Strategy and Consultancy
Strategy and Consultancy is at the core of Strijkers Studio.
In a rapidly changing world, spatial questions rarely stand alone. They are connected to identity, operations, sustainability ambitions and future growth. We help clients reframe the initial brief and translate it into a strategic foundation for design — often revealing unforeseen opportunities for use, value creation and scale.

We help clients reframe the initial brief and translate it into a strategic foundation for design — often revealing unforeseen opportunities for use, value creation and scale.
How we work
We start with a collaborative, 360-degree analysis of spatial and operational needs. This process sharpens the original question and translates ambitions into an integrated brief and clear spatial principles. These principles may relate to identity and customer journey, circularity and reuse, social and economic value, nature-inclusive design, and scalability — often captured in toolboxes or brandbooks that enable long-term consistency.
From strategy to design and rollout
From this strategic foundation, Strijkers Studio develops the design from concept to realization. When projects require rollout across multiple sites, we organise implementation through a brandbook/toolbox, enabling teams and partners to apply the spatial identity consistently and future-proof — across locations, phases and stakeholders.
What it delivers
Our approach creates value beyond the initial request: more usage potential, stronger identity, greater feasibility and more coherent design direction. Strategy becomes the starting point that guides decision-making throughout the entire design and transformation process.
The studio developed Spatial Strategies for clients such as Crematorium Zaanstad, SLEM Museum, Circl ABN AMRO, KPN Retail, Stills Flagship, HAKA Recycle Office, Celest restaurant & cocktailbar, Zola Male, Holland Casino Experience, Well Prologis

Case 1
Identity, Economic and Nature inclusive Strategy PC Uitvaart & Brandbook
The original request focused on a single intervention—one coffee room—but through a complete recalculation of the spatial and operational demand, a new economic potential was unlocked. This shift revealed that a much larger transformation could be made financially viable across the entire portfolio of buildings of PC Uitvaart.

Case 2
Circularity, Social and Economic strategy SLEM Museum
The temporary transformation of Waalwijk’s former city hall into SLEM combined spatial design with a social and economic strategy. By involving local companies and young people with a distance to the labour market in the building process, initial resistance turned into strong neighbourhood support.
This locally rooted approach generated tenants, additional income through a temporary museum, and a strong identity, delivering lasting social, economic and circular value for the city.

Case 3
Circularity showcase strategy ABN AMRO Circl
For Circl, we made a strategy that contributes to a 'circular' and 'inclusive' economy. The interior is designed based on the minimal use of materials, material loss and technical handlings, using the intrinsic qualities of the homogenous materials, with only dry connections to enable disassembly and future reuse.
Aesthetic qualities arise through an analytical process based on circular design principles. The final image does not simply refer to 1:1 reuse and recycling. A new, more timeless image is made through reuse and recycling.

Case 4
Identity and Customer Journey strategy KPN Retail & Brandbook
Rather than designing individual spaces, the studio defined the spatial logic of the KPN experience. This resulted in a clear brand framework that translates core values into consistent spatial principles across all store types.
Grounded in analysis and behavioural insight, the strategy enables teams and partners to independently align physical and digital touchpoints, creating a flexible and future-proof retail identity.

Case 5
Identity strategy Stills retail & Brandbook
For Stills, the studio defined a set of generic spatial principles that establish a consistent identity across all locations. Rooted in spatial logic and aesthetic coherence, these principles allow each store to adapt to its context while remaining part of one coherent system.
Based on this brand framework, the studio realised multiple stores in the Netherlands, Belgium and the United Kingdom, translating the principles into diverse yet recognisable retail environments.

Case 6
Circularity and Social Showcase strategy _ Haka Recycle Office & Brandbook
The Haka Recycle Office was conceived not as a traditional interior project but as a showcase for circular design. Commissioned by the Municipality of Rotterdam and Estrada, the project’s core strategy focused on demonstrating how interior architecture can be created entirely from material residual flows and build by people with a distance to the labour market. Rather than treating circularity as an abstract goal, the design process turned waste materials into valuable resources, creating a tangible example of sustainable innovation. Built out of waste materials by ex-detainees, the HAKA Recycle Office creates both ecological as well as social return on investment.

Case 7
Experience Strategy Celest for Magnicity
For Celest Restaurant & Cocktail Bar, an experience strategy was developed in response to a brief from Magnicity, who envisioned an interior inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Unparalleled Adventure of One Hans Pfaall.”

Case 8
Flexible Retail strategy Zola
The retail strategy for Zola is based on a single, adaptable module that allows stores to be configured and reconfigured over time. By repeating one base volume, different layouts and functions can be accommodated while maintaining a consistent identity.
The module is designed for minimal material use, produced from one standard sheet with limited machining and no waste. Its simplicity enables efficient production and makes execution accessible to people with a distance to the labour market. Integrated storage, display and presentation functions are combined with a subtle gradient of grey tones to support spatial clarity, atmosphere and diversity.

Case 9
Circularity and Bio based showcase strategy Food Forum Floriade
Originally commissioned by the Province of Flevoland as a pavilion for the Floriade Expo in Almere, Food Forum evolved into a spatial strategy. The building functions as a showcase and living exhibition of biobased and circular construction across architecture, interior and furniture.
Research on Nature Based Building and circular design is embedded directly in the spatial system, making its principles visible and explainable through a clear logic of reused and renewable materials.

Case 10
Experience strategy Holland Casino & Brandbook
The Holland Casino Experience design strategy was developed as a comprehensive framework for transforming the casino’s buildings into dynamic, experience-driven environments. At its core lies an analysis of the customer journey in relation to different game types and activities, mapping how visitors move through and engage with the casino.
From this analysis, key spatial characteristics were defined to determine how individual program components relate to one another. Floor levels, walls, transparency, sightlines and routing were strategically aligned to support orientation, interaction and atmosphere, resulting in a coherent spatial structure that enhances both the experience of the building and its functional performance.

Case 11
Circularity and Well Building strategy Prologis & Brandbook
Development of the strategic brand framework for Prologis Offices and warehouses. This toolbox is a guideline for logistic real-estate. This is the first step in a standardization for Prologis that can develop in the future. The design is included in a toolbox ‘Circular Well office and warehouse’. Based on this Toolbox all the offices of Prologis warehouses are realized.
